Adventures in Goodwill Hunting

Me and Curty

Heres a few snaps from a little outing Curty and I took in Santa Monica. We spent the day running around, drinking loads of coffee and of course shopping! It was one of a few really nice summer days. LA seems to have sort of skipped summer this year. We hit up the local Goodwill shop, which Curtis was quite used to. I on the other hand had never really ventured into one before. I first strolled through women's shirts and was feeling pretty uninspired. I remembered what other fellow bloggies have said and headed towards the mens department. I came across a pair of mens diesel jeans, threw em over my shoulder and headed back to women's pants. I (w) as well as (e) Abby are petite so finding pants in our length is somewhat of a victory. Not all women are 5'7! I stumbled upon a pair of navy trouser pants and couldn't believe my eyes. Threw em over my shoulder and high tailed it to the fitting room. I was in the mist of trying on my finds sort of buzzing in the excitement when an old grumpy lady bangs on my door asking me to hurry up. Rude! I quickly (feeling the pressure) threw my clothes back on, headed out and gave the lady an F U look. Curty even heard from across the store and we both had a laugh about it. Sheesh.

At the end of the day I was really pleased with my finds at a random Goodwill. Jeans will work well french cuffed, (yeah I said french cuffed) boyfriend style. Trousers are awesome. Belted high waisted and tucked into with most anything. Thrifting is quite addictive, now I can see why. It somehow makes your finds that much more special.

My Inspiration, My Muse

My life has significantly changed since latter half of 2009 to present day. I will never get exhausted of nor fail to keep myself updated in the Danish and Scandinavian culture. Copenhagen had a profound impact on me. Their sense of style and way of life a step ahead of other cultures, or at least in the sense of what I am attracted to.  I learned so much from my brief encounter. I live by "less stuff more life" and remind myself always. Dutch wardrobe is presented in the similar fashion. Nothing was over the top or extravagant. Most everyone looked cool, tailored, fashion forward, yet simple.

Button Me Up

Cannot get enough of these lightweight flowy chiffon button downs. I love the loose cut that looks so effortless yet smart. They are so comfy and are becoming quite versatile lately. Wear em with skinnies tucked in or with a fun pair of mens trousers. Need more now.

The Journey of Natty Gann

I saw this photo which reminded me of a newer aged Natty Gann; a movie I adored when I was younger. The Wolf captured my heart and naivety, and that I  too could befriend wild animals. I also had the hots for the dad, which is kinda pervy of me?? Does that mean as an 8 year old I was into older men???Probably, because I was also in love with Tom Selleck in 3 Men and A Baby. Enough of my childhood crushes and back to my current fashion crush. I've said before, I like the  90's androgynous look. I especially take a liking to this girl's shoes and paired with socks and rolled up jeans, excellent! I'm bringing 90's back..uh.

And So It Continues

Birthday celebration fun continued.  After a loverly dinner with my aunt, uncle, and cousins I felt it highly necessary to stop by Four Green Fields. Friend Eric met husband and I. I knew I'd pay the price hard the following day, but it was so worth it.  Belting out Irish tunes, throwing back Guinness and Baby Guinness shots never tires. Cheers!

Madam, Anything For You

Husband took me out for a special birthday dinner.  A tradition we started the past few years while in Tampa, dinner at Ceviche, Spanish tapas, for my day of birth. Just the two of us.The evening began with my new favorite drink, French gimlet, while listening to music at the house. With a pretty decent buzz we then rode bikes to Ceviche. We had a special request. We only wanted Ahmed to be our server. He is the best. Straight from Morroco and makes you feel most special. We let Ahmed pick out everything, our drinks, food, desert and delicious port. He nailed it. Our bellies were full, my mind calm, and body relaxed. I truly had a wonderful day. I was in the best of company, my husband. For it is he who always makes me feel special, especially on my birthday, which he claims as his favorite holiday. Cheers!

Parker Bean

I enrolled in a 5 day intensive vinyasa flow yoga teacher training class this fall. I find myself in constant battle, doubting whether I will be "good enough." I know to set aside the ego, yet essentially applying pressure to be good at something is putting ones ego into full force.  That is a very difficult concept to grasp and let go of. I have a number of teachers whom inspire my practice, all in their own way, which has in turn inspirired me to deepen my own practise and help inspire others. I stumbled upon this video of Parker Bean, a yoga teacher at Cleveland Yoga, Beachwood Ohio. Such strength, flexibility, and ease in and out of postures. Parker beautifully demonstrates what the mind and body are capable. So inspirational, makes ya just want to strech and twist and flow.

Pleats Gone Wild

I am still searching for my pair. So far I have failed miserably. Playing will proportions when short poses a many of problems. Ahh, in due time. But for now, I shall look at these lovies and admire their fabulous pleated pants, cuffed at the bottom so wonderfully.

Prop 8 Overturned!!!!

Finally!! This has been a long road for so many, and finally true lovers of all kinds can make it legal. Everyone deserves the right to have the same choices as "straight" people. It's about damn time California!
